Counting and Computation K-2
About This Workshop
This three-day workshop focuses on how students in grades K-2 make sense of numbers, the number system, and the operations, and the teacher’s role in supporting their mathematical learning.
Participants will:- examine how students develop strategies for counting accurately and efficiently, work on place value and develop strategies for solving addition and subtraction problems
- examine the mathematical content of the K-2 number and operations strand in Investigations and the number and operations work at their own grade level
- analyze students’ counting and computation work to consider what students understand and don’t understand about number and the operations and how to help them move forward
- analyze the teacher’s role in helping all students and specifically struggling students develop numerical competency
This workshop is designed for grades K to 2 teachers who are either new to Investigations or have been using Investigations as their primary curriculum.
Cost
Tuition fee is $500 per participant. If 10 or more participants from the same district register, their fee is $450 per participant. Tuition includes a tote bag and a three-ring-binder with all the workshop handouts.
